The ongoing  onslaught  against  criminality in Niger  is yielding results as four  suspected kidnappers were arrested in Rijau local government area of Niger State and arms recovered.

Niger Police Command information officer,  SP Wasiu Abiodun  in a statement  disclosed that  the suspects were nabbed on Saturday in the Rijau.

According to him: “On 12th April, 2025, Police operatives attached to Rijau Div arrested four suspects; Shehu Mohammed 35yrs of Tunda/Magajiya, Mamman Sani of KuShenjiri, Daudu Mohammed 37yrs of Udu and Jibrin Ahmodu of Genu, Rijau LGA

He explained that, the suspects were arrested with two locally made pistols and one Dane gun.

Abiodun explained that the preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects had kidnapped one female victim from Angwan-Gwanda village of Rijau within the last month, but she managed to  escaped from their captivity.

The victim was able to identify one of the suspected kidnappers and he was traced, arrested and that led to the arrest of others.

The suspects confessed to the crime and they are under investigation. 

“All will be charged to court for prosecution after the investigations” he stressed.
