A wave of shock and grief has swept through Sangere community in Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State after a 30-year-old man, Peter Sinamai, was arrested for allegedly killing his biological father and dumping his body in a well in a desperate bid to conceal the crime.

The Adamawa State Police Command confirmed the suspect’s arrest, saying detectives swung into action after receiving a report of the incident.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect allegedly murdered his father before disposing of the corpse in a nearby well.

The gruesome incident has left residents reeling, with many expressing disbelief that such a tragedy could occur within a family. 

Community members described the development as heartbreaking and have called for justice to be served.

Acting on credible intelligence, police operatives launched a swift investigation that led to the suspect’s arrest. 

The victim’s remains were later recovered from the well and deposited at a mortuary for an autopsy as investigations continue.

The Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, CP Kabiru Umar Hassan, has ordered a thorough and discreet investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the alleged killing and ensure that all those found culpable are brought to justice.

Condemning the incident, the Police Commissioner described the alleged act as barbaric, disturbing and a direct assault on the sanctity of human life and cherished family values. 

He reassured residents of the Command’s commitment to a transparent investigation and diligent prosecution of the case.

Hassan also appealed to the public to embrace peaceful and lawful means of resolving family disputes.

The Commissioner further urged individuals facing domestic conflicts to seek intervention from community leaders, religious institutions or relevant authorities before disagreements degenerate into violence.

The Police Command said the suspect will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
