Flood: Peter Obi visits Niger, as death toll hits 200, 1000 still missing

…donates N20m to flood victims

The 2023 Presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), and former Anambra State Governor, Mr. Peter Obi has donated N20 Million Naira to the victim support fund even as the death toll hits over 200.
The former Labour party flag bearer Peter Obi paid a sympathy visit to Niger Deputy Governor, Comrade Yakubu Garba at Government house Minna on Monday.
He expressed his sympathy to the government and people of Niger state over the loss of lives in the flash flood that ravaged Mokwa communities five days ago.
Mr. Peter Obi announced a donation of N20 million to the victims and prayed for the repose of the souls of the victims and for God to grant their families the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Obi disclosed that he would personally visit Mokwa on a later date to meet one-on-one with the victims in their moments of grief.
Responding, the Deputy Governor who received Peter Obi on behalf of the state Governor, Hon. Mohammed Umar Bago thanked the former Anambra state Governor for supporting the distressed Mokwa flood victims.

The Deputy Governor, Comrade Yakubu Garba disclosed that the death toll keeps rising as the figures hit 200 on Monday with about 1000 still missing as they are yet to be accounted for.
He appreciated the Labour party former Presidential candidate for his show of kindness and love for humanity, especially in support of victims of natural disasters.
The Deputy Governor warned against sensational reportage of the disaster as the Government is trying to stabilize the situation of the Town.
Some prominent politicians have donated to the victim support fund including Senator Sani Musa (313) N50 million Naira, Minister of Information and National Orientation N20 Million and Wife of Niger State Governor, Hajiya Fatima Bago who announced a N60 Million Naira On Behalf of herself and her Children.
