‘Why Gov. Otu tackled insecurity, infrastructural decay in C’River- Lawmaker, Wonah

The Cross River State House of Assembly Member representing Yala 1 State Constituency, Odey Brian Wonah has applauded  governor Bassey Edet Otu for his developmental strides in all sectors of the State.

Odey, while speaking with journalists in Calabar said that the achievements recorded by the governor since inception of his administration has brought development to all sectors of the State.

“The governor has greatly transformed the State’s Infrastructure, revived the agricultural and the educational sectors, improved security as well as healthcare.

“Cross River State, which was once famous for peace and cleanliness, had unfortunately experienced a period of serious infrastructural decay as well as insecurity until the inauguration of the present administration which has brought positive changes in all sectors.

 In the area of security, peace has returned to the State. We can now sleep with our eyes closed. For the tourism sector, the governor has achieved a lot.

“The Carnival Calabar is now bigger and more robust with the introduction of other innovations like the junior Carnival, Night of Kings and Queens, the Ikom Carnival and the Ogoja Carnival.

Infact, the recent unveiling of the 2025 Carnival Theme; “Traces of Time” has positively projected the State to the outside world.  l commend our Governor for that initiative “. 

The Yala Lawmaker who is the 10th Assembly’s  Chairman, Public Accounts Committee, further hailed the Governor for spreading appointments evenly across the three Senatorial districts of the State.

” I also commend our Governor for ensuring that appointments are evenly spread across the State. Anytime he sends nominees for our confirmation, you see that they are selected from the three Senatorial districts. That is highly commendable as it gives everybody a sense of belonging.

On the recent widespread endorsement of the Governor for 2027, the Lawmaker expressed excitement describing it as ” a step in the right direction”. He added that the Governor’s ‘People First’ agenda has endeared him to Cross Riverians hence the demand for him to continue his good work in 2027.

Odey stressed the need for Cross Riverians to support Governor Otu’s administration for further positive transformation of the State. “Let us encourage our Governor as he continues to take our dear state to greater heights.”

The Yala Lawmaker further gave an assurance of continued impactful representation to his constituency. He expressed satisfaction with the successes so far recorded by the 10th Assembly under the leadership of the Speaker, Elvert Ayambem.
