Bauchi Gov, Bala Signs Child Trafficking, Abduction Bill To Law

Bauchi state governor, Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir on Tuesday signed executive order of 002, 2025 bill into law to fight against child abduction and trafficking in the state.

The governor, Bala signed the executive order at the executive council chamber of the state government house, Bauchi.

He said that the measure will strengthens community safety and offers greater protection to vulnerable children in the state.

According to the governor, Bala said that “I am committed to safeguarding our children and communities. The law is a decisive step in the fight against child abduction and trafficking. 

“This action follows the successful rescue of seven abducted children from a trafficking syndicate in southeastern Nigeria—a victory made possible through the collaboration of the Nigerian Police, airport authorities, and state First Ladies. I commend their efforts in ensuring these children were brought home safely”

The key provisions of executive order 002 include of Landlords must profile and verify tenants’ identities before leasing properties, Community leaders are to vet and identify all tenants within their jurisdictions and Transport unions are required to verify individuals traveling with children and report suspicious activity.

“Violations of this order will attract penalties, and no one is above the law. I believe these steps will not only improve security but also make Bauchi State a safer and more welcoming environment for residents, businesses, and investors alike”

He urged parents  to remain vigilant also call on communities to take collective responsibility in protecting children in Bauchi State. Cooperation from landlords, tenants, community leaders, and transport unions will be vital to the success of the measures.
