Resist any temptation to misappropriate public funds – Gov Bala to new commissioners

The governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir has warned the newly appointed commissioners to resist any temptation to misappropriate public funds placed under their care.

Bala made this known during the swearing in ceremony held at the Executive Council Chambers of the Bauchi State government house.

The four newly appointed commissioners include; Madaki Bololo – Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and Cooperatives, Bashir Yau – Ministry of Youth and Sports Development,  Bashir Adamu Rishi – Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management,

According to the governor said that “During the 2023 elections, public office holders were required to resign their appointments in compliance with the provisions of the law, which makes several political appointees, comprises of the commissioners, special advisers, and other officials, relinquished their positions”

“We have remained guided by the constitutional provision that the State Executive Council shall consist of at least one commissioner from each Local Government Area in the state. 

It therefore became incumbent upon to me, as the Chief Executive Officer of the state, to fill the vacancies created by the departure of those who resigned”

The governor further said that all the newly appointed commissioners were duly screened and confirmed by the State House of Assembly.

He also congratulated the newly appointed commissioners on their well-deserved appointments and pray that may the Almighty God should continue to guide and direct them in the discharge of their responsibilities.

He said that the newly appointed commissioners were selected to represent their respective local government areas, which merit was never compromised in the selection process. 

Added “Their appointments were based on their proven records of competence, dedication, integrity, and service to the development of our dear state, confident that they will bring these qualities to bear in the performance of their official duties.

He urged the new commissioners to familiarize themselves with the policy thrust of the administration so that they can effectively implement government policies and programmes. 

Governor Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir said that commissioners should also remember that their conduct and actions will be closely monitored by both the public and the administration. 

“Any shortcomings on their part will reflect on the government as a whole, which they must therefore conduct themselves with integrity and avoid any actions capable of bringing the government or the state into disrepute.

Speaking on behalf of the newly appointed commissioners, Baraya Ibrahim, expressed their appreciation to the State governor for finding them worthy in other to be part of his cabinet.

They promised to abide by the law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for the development of Bauchi State.
