APP Picks Gov’ship Candidate for 2027 in Cross River

The Action Peoples Party, APP, Cross River State Chapter has picked Engr. Nya Bassey as its governorship candidate through consensus ahead of 2027 general elections

The state publicity secretary of the party, Mr. Odinta Clifford Ekawon, said the consensus process was carried out in a “peaceful and transparent atmosphere that was devoid of rancour and acrimony.” 

He stated  that the process reflected the unity and democratic maturity of APP members across Cross River.

Ekawon described the exercise as “a testament to internal cohesion” within the party as it prepares for the polls adding that the smooth conduct of the process showed APP’s readiness to present a united front in 2027.

In his acceptance remarks, the governorship candidate thanked the party leadership and members for the confidence reposed in him. 

He called his emergence “a call to service and a collective responsibility to reposition Cross River for sustainable growth and development.”

The flag bearer assured stakeholders of “purposeful leadership, inclusive governance and people-oriented policies” if elected.

 He pledged to prioritize infrastructure, job creation, education, and healthcare delivery, stressing that his administration would be anchored on accountability and transparency.

Also speaking, party chairman Effiom Edet commended the aspirants for their sportsmanship and commitment to party unity. He said “the consensus approach adopted by APP has saved the party the stress of acrimony and positioned the party strongly for 2027.” 

Edet also appreciated INEC, security agencies, the media, and other stakeholders for ensuring the process was hitch-free.

APP reiterated its commitment to fielding credible candidates at all levels and urged Cross River residents to support its vision of “a prosperous, united and progressive state.”

 
The party added that it would soon unveil its full campaign team and manifesto as preparations for 2027 intensify.
