2027: I’m not a placeholder, Says Abia NDC Governorship Candidate, Ogah

The governorship candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Abia State, Chief Ndubuisi Etugo Ogah, has dismissed speculations suggesting that he is a placeholder for another aspirant, declaring that he remains the party’s authentic flag bearer for the 2027 governorship election.

Ogah made the clarification in a press statement issued on Saturday, describing the rumours as baseless and the handiwork of political detractors determined to mislead the public ahead of the election.

The frontline industrialist said his decision to contest the state’s highest office was borne out of a genuine desire to reposition Abia through purposeful leadership, economic revitalisation and sustainable development.

“I am not a placeholder. I am standing firmly as the governorship candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress in Abia State, and I am not fronting for anybody. No individual or political group is sponsoring me to hold the ticket in trust.

 “I am fully in the race and remain committed to contesting the election to its conclusion,” Ogah stated.

He said his administration, if elected, would prioritise human capital development, industrialization, job and wealth creation, institutional reforms and infrastructure expansion aimed at improving the living standards of Abia residents.

According to him, his government would strengthen democratic institutions, improve public service delivery and implement policies that would stimulate economic growth while creating opportunities for youths and businesses.

Ogah further pledged to redefine governance in the state by investing in quality education, efficient healthcare delivery and a robust security architecture capable of supporting development across all sectors.

He also promised to ensure balanced development across the 17 local government areas of the state, stressing that every community would benefit from the dividends of good governance.

Reiterating that he remains the NDC’s duly recognised governorship candidate, Ogah urged Abians to disregard what he described as false narratives orchestrated by political opponents fearful of the party’s growing acceptance ahead of the 2027 polls.

He appealed to members of the NDC, party supporters and the people of Abia State to remain united and continue mobilising support for the party, expressing confidence that the NDC would emerge victorious in the governorship and other elective contests.

The governorship hopeful assured that an NDC-led administration would be committed to delivering transparent, inclusive and people-centred governance capable of transforming Abia State and improving the welfare of its citizens
