2027: Tinubu Has Delivered on South-East Road Infrastructure, Says SSA Nweze

The Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Community Engagement (South-East),  Chioma Nweze, has hailed the Tinubu administration’s infrastructure drive in the South-East, saying ongoing federal road projects are transforming the region and improving the lives of residents.

Speaking at the inspection of numerous roads projects in Ebonyi State, Nweze said the administration had demonstrated commitment to the development of the South-East through the construction and rehabilitation of critical road infrastructure.

He singled out the ongoing Trans-Saharan Road project, describing it as a game changer that would boost trade, improve access to healthcare and connect communities across Ebonyi State and the wider South-East.

“The Trans-Saharan Road is going to open up the South-East and Ebonyi in particular. It is opening up many places for people to trade, access hospitals and enjoy the dividends of democracy,” he said.

Nweze also commended President Tinubu for ongoing work on the Ndibe Bridge linking Ebonyi and Cross River states, the Enugu-Onitsha Federal Highway, the Enugu-Port Harcourt Federal Highway and other strategic road projects aimed at improving connectivity in the region.

According to him, the projects will reduce travel time, enhance economic activities and provide Ebonyi residents with improved road access to coastal areas.

The presidential aide further praised the administration’s education policies, noting that tertiary institutions had remained open without prolonged industrial action since Tinubu assumed office.

He urged students in the South-East to take advantage of the Federal Government’s student loan scheme through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), saying it offers greater access to higher education for indigent students.

Nweze disclosed that NELFUND was intensifying efforts to ensure more students from the South-East benefit from the scheme, adding that government programmes should be embraced irrespective of regional differences.

He also lauded the Minister of Works, David Umahi, for closely supervising federal road projects across the country, describing his efforts as instrumental to the progress recorded in road infrastructure 

Nweze expressed confidence that the ongoing projects would further stimulate economic growth and strengthen public support for the Tinubu administration ahead of the 2027 general elections.
