The Chairman of the Wadada Project and Nasarawa State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, as well as the Overseeing Commissioner of the Ministry of Works and Housing, Kwanta Yakubu, has declared that the campaign for the 2027 governorship election in the state will be driven by issues and development-focused discussions rather than attacks on individuals.

Kwanta made the declaration on Friday in Lafia during the inauguration of 13 Local Government Area (LGA) Coordinators and 13 Women Leaders of the Wadada Project,

A political mobilisation platform established to strengthen grassroots support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada.

Kwanta said the newly inaugurated officials are expected to coordinate the activities of the project across the 13 local government areas of Nasarawa State and deepen engagement with communities, stakeholders, women and youth groups ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Speaking at the event, Kwanta noted that the Wadada Project was established as a broad-based movement comprising professionals, politicians, business leaders, intellectuals,

women and youth leaders, community influencers, artisans, farmers, students, persons with disabilities and other patriotic citizens committed to the progress of Nasarawa State.

He said the choice of coordinators and women leaders followed a rigorous process of consultation and assessment to ensure that only credible and capable individuals were entrusted with the responsibility.

“Your appointment is a testament to the confidence reposed in your capacity, integrity and ability to deliver this important assignment. You have passed the test of fire and we are confident that you will justify the trust placed in you,” Kwanta said.

The Commissioner charged the appointees to remain committed to grassroots mobilisation, effective stakeholder engagement and the ideals of the Wadada Project.

He stressed that the movement would maintain a campaign focused on issues affecting the people rather than engaging in personal attacks against political opponents.

“For us in the Wadada Project, we are going to drive an issue-based campaign. We will not tread the path of our opponents because we have a sellable candidate who has paid his dues in serving the people and enjoys mass appeal across Nasarawa State,” he stated.

Kwanta said the project would focus on strengthening organisation, promoting unity of purpose and ensuring active engagement across communities in the state.

According to him, the objective of the mobilisation effort is to sustain the development strides recorded under the administration of Governor Abdullahi A. Sule, whose leadership, he noted, had achieved significant milestones under the “Exceeding All Expectations” agenda.

He called on APC members, political stakeholders, women, youths and supporters across the state to rally behind the movement as it works towards delivering Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada as the next governor of Nasarawa State in 2027.
