By, Uchenna Okeh Abakaliki
The senatorial candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, for Ebonyi Central zone, Bernard Odoh has vowed to use science to defeat his opponents in the forthcoming 2027 general election.
Odoh, however revealed that he has no problem with the former governor of Ebonyi State and now the Minister of works, David Umahi, contrary to speculation making the rounds in the state.
The former secretary to the State government, Odoh made this known during a town hall meeting with over two thousand supporters held in Abakaliki capital of Ebonyi State.
According to him: “I started in this state as Secretary of the state government between May 2015 and April 2018.I am still the only person in Nigeria who served in government and invited EFCC to investigate me.
“Now another thing, when I served in government, I was fair to everybody that came across me. People who needed jobs, where I had opportunity, I ensured that they got it. Both at the state level and the federal level.

“I am a man of principle and I stand for what I believe in.The reasons for which I left government in 2018 was clear.
“I remain grateful to the former governor David Umahi who appointed me. We disagreed only on principle.I don’t hate anybody.”I am not against anybody.I use my mind, I pursue my dreams and I face my direction. So, you will hear my voice on the floor of the senate soon.I am a professor and I became one at the age of 38 in this country.
“So, education committee, both in terms of tertiary, in terms of basic and all of that, are places where my expertise will be highly sought after in the senate.
“In Southeast Nigeria, I am well known. So, I play politics across the divide. All the governments in Southeast, they know me one-on-one. Most of the senators, they know me one-on-one.Past governors, they know me one-on-one.
“So, if you send me to the senate,I will do well. You will be proud to hear my voice on the floor of the senate.I will speak on topical issues.I will speak on issues that we have; quality healthcare, education for our people.
“Quality of how we produce food that we eat.How to protect our communities. So, I will be fit for proposed senator. The journey ahead is a very tough one.
“Let us not underrate it.Because we are going to be battling with power at the moment. So, we need strategy,Intelligence and smartness. And we will outsmart them.
“Nobody is more a boy than all of us.We are all from this land.Nobody is going to harass us here in Ebonyi state. If you harass us, we harass you back.We are committed to our people.

Odoh further reacted on the recent reports that showcases Ebonyi in bad light “Remember that for a very long time now, Ebonyi is constantly being used for the wrong reason. We want to change that.
“Anybody who is less than 40 years knows that the direction of the world today is technology. Is artificial intelligence. Whether you are in engineering, you are in legal practice,
“We have 967 polling booths or thereabouts.I am at the winning number. We will use science to defeat opponents” he stated. In a remark, Kelvin Chukwu, the
house of Representative’s candidate of the NDC for Ikwo/ Ezza South Federal Constituency, also vowed to defeat the Incumbent Reps Member, Chinedu Ogah in the forthcoming general election.
He stated that the people of Ikwo/ Ezza South Federal constituency seriously needed a change, and are currently tired of bad governance and hardship.
Chukwu vowed to bring greater infrastructural and human capital development, boost economy and education, if voted massively to win in the forthcoming general election.
