The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has urged former Kano Central Senator, Rufai Hanga, to leave the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and join the ruling APC.

Yilwatda made the appeal during a visit to Hanga’s residence, where the two reportedly held discussions amid growing speculation over the senator’s political future.

Sources familiar with the development said Hanga is weighing the possibility of leaving the NDC after allegedly losing the party’s Kano Central Senatorial ticket ahead of the next election cycle.

The sources further claimed that the former senator was also denied the party’s deputy governorship ticket and has not been considered for any other political position by the party’s leader, Rabiu Kwankwaso.

The APC chairman’s visit came a day after Hanga received a delegation of Kano State APC executives at his residence.

The meeting has fueled speculation that talks are ongoing regarding his possible defection to the ruling party.

The Nations News reports that neither Hanga nor the NDC had officially commented on the reason for the alleged denial of tickets as of the time of filing this report.
