2027: Rep member, Idu writes Speaker, defects from ADC to NDC

Dissatisfied with the intra party crisis rocking the African Democratic Congress, ADC, a member of the House of Representatives representing Onitsha North and South Federal constituency, Anambra State.
Under NDC platform, Emeka Idu, has formally written to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, informing him of his resolve to resign and defect to Nigerian Democratic Congress.

In a press release in Onitsha, the letter read in part this: “I write to formally notify you of my resignation from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and my intention to defect to Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) on the floor of the House.
“This decision has become necessary due to internal divisions and the ongoing multiple litigations and Federal High Court judgement affecting the ADC Party, which have unfortunately affected the cohesion and stability of the party.
“Please accept, Your Excellency, the assurances of my esteemed regards,” he pleaded.
Idu’s defection it was learnt, was announced on May 5 during the plenary session of the House.
According to Idu, “My decision for resignation from the ADC was driven by internal divisions within the party, multiple litigations, and Federal High Court judgments that weakened the cohesion and stability of the party.”
He added further that one of the major reasons for his defection was to support his leader, His Excellency Mr. Peter Obi, on his presidential aspiration.
The Green Chamber lawmaker disclosed that the ideals of Mr. Peter Obi resonate deeply with his personal convictions and his vision for the kind of Nigeria.

The younger generation and the generality of Nigerians deserve; a nation where leadership is driven by competence, accountability, prudence, and commitment to the common good.
Idu described Peter Obi as a rare breed of leader whose value-driven politics and message of moving Nigeria from a consumption-based economy to a production-driven economy align perfectly with the urgent reforms the country desperately needs at this critical point in its history to move it to the next level.
