The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State, Stanley Emegha, has cautioned opposition parties and critics against mistaking Governor Francis Nwifuru’s calm disposition for weakness ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Emegha expressed confidence that the ruling APC remains firmly rooted across the state, particularly in Edda Local Government Area, and would secure victory in the governorship election as well as other elective positions in 2027.

He spoke while addressing journalists shortly after the APC local government campaign rally held in Edda Local Government Area.

The APC chairman also urged residents of Edda and other stakeholders in the state to disregard speculations that opposition parties, especially the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have gained political strength in the southern part of Ebonyi State.

According to him, Edda remains a stronghold of the APC, citing the developmental strides recorded under the administrations of former Governor David Umahi and Governor Francis Nwifuru.

“As far as Edda is concerned, you will recall that during the last election, we advised the former governor, David Umahi, not to give tickets to candidates who lacked the capacity to win elections.

“However, he insisted, and the outcome showed that the candidate lost very early in the process.

“That experience demonstrates that when the people of Edda make up their minds on a political decision, they stand firmly by it.

“Edda remains uniquely APC because of the achievements of both the administration of former Governor David Umahi and that of Governor Francis Nwifuru.

“I said those who were creating unnecessary distractions and negative narratives against Edda would be removed, and that has happened.

“You can see the unique political character of Edda today. We are fully committed to the APC, and nothing can change that. The opposition cannot alter that reality.

“Nobody should mistake Governor Francis Nwifuru’s meekness for weakness. While the governor has chosen a calm and peaceful approach to leadership, the party also has its responsibilities.

“We cannot continue to watch people embarrass the government and the party without responding.

“Where necessary, the party will take all legitimate political steps to protect its mandate and defend its interests,” Emegha said.
