The Ward Executive Committee of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), in

Obiozara in Ohaozara Local Government Area of the Ebonyi State has suspended for three months Mr. Silas Onu over alleged anti-party activities, gross misconduct and violations of party discipline.

The Nations News reports that the suspension of Onu, was unconnected with his alleged self imposed factional leadership of the party in the state.

The suspension, was contained in a letter dated 22nd April, 2026 and addressed to Mr. Silas Onu, was signed Mr. Nwachukwu Peter Obinna, the acting African Democratic Congress( ADC )Chairman of Obiozara Ward and Akuma Martins the acting Secretary.

According to them, the suspension was in line with the Constitution of the African Democratic Congress (ADC ) that empowers the Ward Executive and the provision of the Electoral Act 2026, thereby slammed a three month suspension on Mr. Onu, who also will face a 7-man disciplinary committee in line with the constitution of ADC.

Giving reasons for the suspension of Mr Silas Onu, the Ward Executive of Obiozara Ward accused Onu of hijacking of national screening committee, hijacking of national Electoral Committee and conduct of illegal Congress.

“Your actions were calculated to disenfranchise legitimate party members who purchased congress nomination forms for various positions.

“ This subversive act was only prevented by the timely intervention of the State Chairman, Mrs. Jennifer Adibe, who invoked her constitutional powers to oversee the day-to-day activities of the party, host congresses, and establish a State Screening Committee to ensure due process”, they said.

They further accused Onu of impersonation and representation at the just concluded  National Convention where they said he allegedly engaged in criminal activities falsely representing  himself as the Ebonyi State Chairman of ADC, misleading the National Leadership and delegates.

Other grounds for his suspension include; financial exploitation of party members, fictionalization and division, violations of party membership requirements, that his party membership card was not duly signed by his ward chairman and secretary as required by ADC constitution.

“Your actions have caused severe division within the party, created parallel and illegal factional leadership structures in Ebonyi State, and undermined the unity and collective purpose of African Democratic Congress (ADC)”

They added that Silas Onu , who took advantage of the online registration to perpetuate deception, disrupted the national convention proceeding and has continued to parade himself as the factional elected chairman of ADC in Ebonyi State, even when he is unknown to his ward.

While stating that the suspension takes immediate effect, Mr. Silas Onu was also suspended from holding any position within ADC at ward, local government, state or national level, barred from representing the party in any capacity,

prohibited from attending party meetings, congresses, conventions,  any official gathering, suspended from exercising any voting rights and privileges of membership.

The letter further read, “you have been in public events,  newspapers,  social media parading yourself as the elected chairman of ADC, Ebonyi State,  unknown to his ward. In reality,  the ward leaders of ADC, Obioazara ward has never met you before. You do not have any physical party card signed by ward chairman and secretary”, the letter read.

However, Silas Onu was given fourteen (14) days from 22nd of April, 2026 to appear before the 7-man disciplinary committee set up by the ward, adding that failure for him to appear within the time frame, it will be deemed as a waiver of his right to defence and the matter will proceed to higher disciplinary action.

Meanwhile, when contacted for reaction, Silas Onu said he has no time to join issues with anybody, but threatened to drag those who announced the suspension to court.
