A former Commissioner under the administration of Abdullahi Sule, Isaac Lucky Yargwa, has declared his intention to contest for the Wamba State Constituency seat in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Yargwa made the declaration at the weekend at the party’s ward offices in Kwara and Wamba wards of Wamba Local Government Area, where he was received by a large crowd of supporters and party faithful.

Speaking during the event, the aspirant outlined his legislative agenda, with emphasis on education, healthcare and youth empowerment.

“I will formulate laws that will enhance the education sector and ensure quality healthcare delivery. My vision is to see primary healthcare centres not only in major towns but extended to villages and rural communities,” he said.

He added that his representation would prioritise grassroots development through the establishment of skill acquisition centres across communities.

“I will ensure that skill acquisition centres are taken to the grassroots, not just concentrated in urban centres, so our youths can be empowered wherever they reside,” Yargwa stated.

The former commissioner also pledged transparent and diligent representation, stressing that his ambition is driven by the desire to bring about meaningful change in Wamba.

“I am committed to serving the people with transparency and diligence. My mission is to create positive change that will impact every community,” he said.

Expressing appreciation for the turnout and warm reception, Yargwa described the ADC as “the party to beat” ahead of the 2027 elections, adding that opposition parties were already jittery.

In an interview, a former member of the House of Representatives and ADC leader in the zone, Abdulkarim Usman popular called Ombamas, expressed confidence in the party’s chances, citing what he described as its growing strength and the performance of the current administration.

“We are very, very confident. If you look at the calibre of people in this party and the dissatisfaction with the present system, you will understand why we believe victory is certain by God’s grace,” he said.

On the ongoing legal dispute within the party, Ombamas maintained that due process was followed in the conduct of its congresses.

“The law is clear. There is no provision that says INEC must be in attendance. We conducted our congresses properly and we are waiting for the court. These are internal affairs of the party, and we expect a favourable judgment,” he added.

He described Yargwa as a seasoned politician with the capacity to deliver quality representation.

“He has the experience and capability. We are looking for credible persons who can represent the people effectively, and he fits perfectly into that category,” Ombamas said.

Also speaking, the State Deputy Chairlady of ADC and Women Leader in Wamba Local Government Area, Mrs. Comfort Ishaya, said the party was gaining massive grassroots support across the zone.

“In this zone, almost every home is talking about ADC. People are yearning for change because of the current system. ADC is becoming the preferred platform,” she said.

She expressed strong confidence in Yargwa’s candidacy, citing his experience and background.

“With his track record as a commissioner and his level of education, I believe he will perform far better. We will support him 100 per cent, and with the turnout we have seen today, victory is very possible,” Ishaya stated.

Other stakeholders at the event commended Yargwa for his resilience and bold step in seeking to represent his people, assuring him of their full backing in the forthcoming election.
