Niger govt. to bid for hosting right of 2028 NSF

Niger State Government is joining the League of States that may bid for the hosting rights to the 24th edition of the National Sports festival in 2028 to boost sporting activities in the State.
The State Badminton association chairman, Muhammad Nma Kolo disclosed this while hosting victorious Badminton players who made the State proud at the just concluded 22nd edition of the National Sports festival at Ogun State.
The Badminton association Chairman who is also the political adviser to Governor Umaru Bago doled out cash rewards to the Athletics who won the solitary gold medal for the men’s double at the Sports festival.
The Chairman said Niger State since its creation in 1976 has not bidded for the national Sports Fiesta, but the narrative is about to change as the State Government is entering the bidding to host the 24th edition of the festival to be tagged the Power State games .
He assured that Sports stakeholders have gotten the buy-in of the Governor towards ensuring that the State wins the hosting rights for the 2028 edition of the games.

” That is why Sports sponsorship should not be left in the hands of Government alone, the private sector has a major role to play to tap into this vast sector for employment generations and wealth creation “

The Sports loving Special Adviser on Politics and strategy to the Governor attributed to the success recorded by the State Badminton team to the association catch the young grassroot development initiative stressing that, plans are already under way to organize a North Central invitational tournament in Minna soon which is to be named after the farmer Governor Mohammed Umar Bago.
According to him, this will be followed by inter inter-local youth championship all geared towards ensuring that the budding talents in the State are harnessed by the association for maximum benefit for the State and the country at large.
He announced undisclosed cash gifts to the double gold men’s winners, the Silver medalist and for the bronze winners.
