‘Why I backed Gov. Soludo for cutting down cost of governance in Anambra – Assembly speaker, Udeze

The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Somtochukwu Udeze, has revealed why he backed governor Charles Chukwuma soludo for cutting down the cost of governance in the state.
He, however pledged to provide palliative work to the ever-busy Atani/Odekpe/Ogwuikpere road for the residents of the area to feel belong as part and parcel of the State.
Udeze made this known while addressing Odorubber Community Association for Social Interests, who paid him a courtesy visit at the State House of Assembly complex.
The speaker told the association that he supported Governor Charles Soludo-led government because it is focused and cuts down cost of administration which according to him also affects the House of Assembly for the good of all irrespective of where one hails from.
“The money is judiciously used by the government. I know what governor Soludo can do. We want to set a standard for the administration that will come after us. We did palliative work on Atani road for December last year. We will do palliatives on the road again. I have Ogbaru at heart.,” he pledged.
He commended the governor for his quest to conduct Local Government election, adding that it was long awaited for but regretted that the local government failed in its responsibilities to live up to expectations.
“My commitment is to stand by the truth. If power is given to the local government, the work load for the state will be curtailed but local government has failed, that is the issue,” he stated.
Speaker Udeze urged the people not to expect Government to do everything, even as he pledged to write Navy on alleged blockage of Mission road by the Navy to unblock the road as it assists to worsen the poor state of roads in the area.
Earlier, in his speech, the leader of the community, comrade Okala, urged the Speaker to come to the rescue of the people, adding that the rain has set in, the community would be submerged by flood, if nothing was done.
“The Governor has done in two years what previous administrations were not able to do in 16 years. His achievements will speak for him come the 2025 gubernatorial election. Every community is feeling the impact of the governor’s achievements and we will all vote for his second tenure.
“We also plead to the Speaker to extend his hand of fellowship to us via provision of palliatives to us and unblocking of the blocked mission road by the Navy and sand filling of our streets washed away by 2022 flood that ravaged the community,” he pleaded.
Responding, the community chairman, Mr. Fredrick Muogozie, listed the demands of the community to include, rehabilitation of Atani road, sand filling of streets washed away by flood, provision of solar light in the streets, opening of blocked Mission road by Navy, empowerment of youths and provision of palliatives to cushion the effect of hunger now biting the entire Nigerians, among others.
Also, the secretary, Emmanuel Okorie said they were in the House to commend the Speaker for his victory and elevation as Speaker and appointment of one of their own as councillor, Hon. Obiechina, in ward 403.
“we once again assure you that this community is behind you, and will not fail to bring to your notice the efforts of our leader, Peter Okala, who during your election to the house worked very hard to bring us together not minding our political affiliation, we came together and worked assiduously for your electoral victory,” they stated.
