Ebonyi State government has waded into the lingering land boundary disputes between Akpoha and Ezeke Amasiri communities in Afikpo Local government area of the state.

The Commissioner for Border peace and conflict resolution, Prof. Paul Awo Nwaobasi revealed the preparedness of the state governor, Francis Nwifuru to restore peace and ensure demarcation of the boundaries of the affected communities.

Nwaobasi made this known while speaking to newsmen in Abakaliki capital of Ebonyi State shortly after leading a term of security agencies and members of his ministry who visited the disputed boundaries of Akpoha and Ezeke Amasiri, Afikpo LGA

He said: “The ministry of border peace and conflict resolution went to the field today to determine the claims of the Akpoha people, their boundaries with Ezeke Amasiri. The Akpoha people are having land issues with Ezeke Amasiri.

“Today is the turn of Amata Akpoha. So, we visited their claims, took mapings and surveyed the place.

“And the next time we are going there, we are going to carry out that of Ezeke Amasiri. And then on the third day, we’ll be able to mop up those areas that we didn’t touch.

“So that we’ll come in with it, plot the survey, print it out, and then we’ll be able to put the claims together and know who exactly is telling us the truth and who is not telling us the truth.

“After that, we’ll be able to refer back to His Excellency and give His Excellency the report. Because His Excellency has always stressed to the people of the State that where there is no peace, there will be no development.

Nobody wants trouble.”He has been able to gather everybody together and we are working towards a greater point for tomorrow.

“So, all we are doing and continue to do is to make sure that there is peace resulting from disputes.

“Disputes in land claims. You know, as Ebonyi is developing, we have quarries here and there. Anywhere you have mineral deposits, there will always be trouble.

“Where there is, people will generate it.So that they will be able to get exactly what they want. But our duty is to make sure that the correct thing is done.

“And we will not allow people to cause problems that are not genuine,” he stressed .
