Contempt: S-East PDP VC, Egwu calls for arrest, prosecution of fake Excos in Ebonyi
By Uchenna Okeh Abakaliki
The Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Southeast, Goodluck Chidiebere Egwu, has called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of the purported PDP executives in Ebonyi State for allegedly committing contempt of court.
Egwu, said that there is no legitimate PDP executives in Ebonyi State and however, issued a stern warning to those parading themselves as Excos to shun impersonation.
The South East PDP vice chairman, Egwu made this known, while speaking with newsmen on Saturday in Abakaliki capital of Ebonyi State.
Egwu highlighted the outcome of the recent Federal High Court ruling, which affirmed Ali Odefa’s non-membership in the party and invalidated his claim to the position of National Vice Chairman (NVC) of PDP Southeast.
He emphasized that Odefa “lacked locus” to pursue any suit within the party and that any attempt to interfere with party affairs could lead him to jail.

“The court made it clear: Ali Odefa is a non-member. He cannot assume party positions, and any breach of this judgment risks contempt of court,” Egwu stated, noting that he has alerted security agencies to enforce compliance.
Egwu also expressed appreciation for Senator Mao Ohuabunwa’s role as authentic Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees (BOT), explaining that while the BOT works to maintain relationships within the National Working Committee, their authority is limited compared to constitutional party organs.
On the situation in Ebonyi State, Egwu was unequivocal: “There are no executives in Ebonyi. The convention committee was infiltrated by non-members, including former APC defectors aligned with Ali Odefa. Such actions cannot stand and were why plaintiffs went to court.”
The Vice Chairman underscored the importance of adherence to the PDP constitution, emphasizing the roles of governors and gubernatorial candidates as party leaders in their respective states.
He further criticized internal betrayal, citing the example of Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State, who he said pursued personal interests at the expense of party principles.
Egwu decried what he described as opportunistic elements within the party and stressed that the PDP’s strength lies in integrity, loyalty, and rule of law.
“Those who have benefited from the and turned against it cannot dictate its future. The law is clear, and the court has removed him,” he said.
Looking ahead, Egwu outlined plans for revitalizing the party, including grassroots membership drives and engagement with the masses.
“The media may portray a different story, but on the ground, the people are hungry and ready for change. Our focus is on them, and we aim to build a strong opposition to challenge APC by 2027.”
He emphasized resilience and unity within PDP Southeast: “The masses are watching, and we are committed to driving the party forward with integrity. Any attempt to undermine this will meet the full force of the law.” he stated.
