The Coalition of Youth Organizations in Nasarawa State, under the auspices of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), has held an interactive engagement with Senator Aliyu Ahmad Wadada, representing Nasarawa West Senatorial District, as part of activities marking the 2025 International Youth Day celebration.

The event, organized by the state chapter of the NYCN and led by its chairman, Ja’afar Muhammad Loko, brought together youth leaders from across the state to discuss issues bordering on youth participation in governance, empowerment, and leadership succession.

Speaking during the engagement on Thursday, Senator Wadada reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive governance and youth empowerment, disclosing his intention to contest for the office of the Governor of Nasarawa State in the next election.

“I believe the time has come for our young people to take their rightful place in leadership. My aspiration to lead Nasarawa State is rooted in service, inclusion, and the belief that our youths are capable of transforming our state if given the opportunity,” he said.

The senator highlighted his record of people-oriented projects and consistent engagement with communities across the senatorial district, which he said reflect his style of participatory leadership.

“Every project I embark on is inspired by the needs of my people. I have always believed in carrying everyone along, especially the youth, because they are the future we must invest in today,” he added.

In a gesture described by participants as a demonstration of genuine commitment to youth development, Senator Wadada donated a brand-new vehicle to the Nasarawa State Chapter of the NYCN to ease mobility challenges and enhance organizational efficiency. He also announced a cash donation of ₦5 million to support the council’s activities and logistics.

Receiving the donations, Comrade Ja’afar Muhammad Loko expressed appreciation to the senator for his support and encouragement to the youth movement in the state.

“We are deeply grateful to Senator Wadada for always identifying with the youths. His gesture today will go a long way in strengthening our operations and inspiring young people to remain focused and united for the progress of Nasarawa State,” he said.

Loko described the interactive session as “a milestone in youth-political leadership engagement,” noting that such platforms foster dialogue and bridge the gap between policymakers and young citizens.

The event, held in Lafia, drew youth representatives, civil society groups, and political stakeholders from various local government areas, with participants commending the senator’s open-door policy and his passion for youth empowerment.
