Group urges Adamawa, Bauchi, other govts to recruit health personnel for the safety of pregnant women

A Women group under the aegis of Mama2Mama has urged the state governments of Adamawa, Bauchi, Gombe and Taraba to recruit a professional health personnel in their various hospitals to enhance the Safety of pregnant women, especially during child birth. 

The group made this known during in a  panel discussion on experience of Mama2Mama program, to mark the International Women Day, IWD, that was organized by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Bauchi Field Office, held in Gombe State.

Mama2Mama is a voluntary group from Adamawa, Bauchi, Gombe and Taraba states who agreed to join their hands together in order to encourage and guide pregnant women during delivery.

One of the Mama2Mama group from Taraba State Mrs. Ramatu Alhassan said that they formed the group in order to help pregnant women by encouraging them to go to hospital to avert the dangers witnessed during child birth.

Mrs. Alhassan said that they voluntarily formed the group in order to educate community on key household practices; like hand washing and birth registration and also educates them on the importance of maternal, newborn and child health (MNCH) services.

Another woman from the same group, Furera Musa of Bauchi State, said that their job is not to receive pregnant women delivery but to be going up and down, telling them the importance of visiting hospitals with the aim of providing development to their various communities, states and Nigeria at large. 

Furera calls on government of various levels to support their initiative for the development and beautification of their children.

She further urged the state governments of Adamawa, Bauchi, Gombe and Taraba to strive and be recruiting good health personnel into their various hospitals.

Furera charged the participants to focus on their departments in order to save the lives of pregnant women from dying during delivery.
