The socio-political group under the auspices of Mopa Like Minds Initiative has passed a vote of confidence on the lawmaker representing Yagba Federal Constituency, Leke Abejide.
Addressing a world press conference in Lokoja, the Convener of the group, Emmanuel Ayo, refuted the information making the round that the people of Mopa are resolute to be against the federal lawmaker ahead of the 2027 general election.
The Convener of the group argued that this belief is affecting the entire community on the scale of priority, unlike the gains accessed by some neighbouring communities.
While noting that they are unequivocally in support of Leke Abejide’s programmes and projects tailored towards the advancement of their community and Yagba Federal Constituency in general, he added that the subsisting mandate given to him by the entire people is a confirmation of his acceptability in Kogi State.
His words “It is important to put the record in proper perspective in the ongoing misconstrued beliefs that the people of the community are resolute to be against Elder Leke Abejide, Member House of Representative, representing Yagba Federal Constituency.
Nasarawa to benefit from $200m Lithium project- Gov. Sule assures
“The subsisting mandate given to Leke Abejide by the entire people is a confirmation of his acceptability, and the Mopa likeminds join other well-meaning Yagba people in accessing the gains of the same.
“Our message is further predicated on the need for Leke Abejide to see and give consideration to the need for more dividend of democracy largely to the benefit of our people, especially in the following sectors.
“Employment opportunities in the NCS&E and not limited to the service but extension to other MDA’s, Social Amenities.
roads Infrastructure and Support for the enhancement of Mopa security base. for the protection of lives and properties of the people and to the benefit of other neighbouring communities”
Ayo, however, acknowledged the agitation of some people within the Local government clamouring to stop the third term bid of Abejide.
Continuing, he said “this is to clearly state that those agitating have the right to agitate the same way the constitution allows Leke Abejide to contest for an additional term in office.
“This is not supposed to be a matter for debate because the people will eventually decide through their votes, and Mopa like minds are part of the people!!! (To whom much is given much is expected) 2027 is largely in the hands of God, and to him, we give our submission to his supremacy”.
He admonished all well-meaning Mopa people to continue to support our Governor Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo FCA and his government.
“There is no doubt that the Governor is doing well and the Mopa community is not left behind in the scheme of the developmental strides of government programmes and policies”he added.
The Co-Convener of the group Abel Julius argued that the People of Mopa will never go against the reelection of Abejide if he chooses to contest contrary to what is being speculated around in the media space.
“Abejide, who is our lawmaker in the house of representative, has done well for his people. Are we talking about employment, youths empowerment, infrastructural development and many more that could be attributed to this Lawmaker of our time.
“Nobody is opposing those clamouring for a power shift but it is important to state categorically that you don’t change a winning team”he added.
He tasked the federal lawmaker to see and give consideration to the need for more dividend of democracy largely to the benefit of their people.
