2027: Eggon Forum tips Ombugadu as sole guber candidate in Nasarawa

The Eggon Political Forum has adopted the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate,David Emmanuel Ombugadu, as its consensus candidate among politicians of Eggon extraction contesting the 2027 governorship election in Nasarawa State.

The forum, led by its Chairman, Alhaji Umaru Gwamna, popularly known as Cingarin Eggon, disclosed the decision when its delegation paid a courtesy visit to the Aren Eggon, His Royal Highness Justice Ahmed Ubangari Alaku.

The visit was to formally brief the traditional ruler on the forum’s resolution and seek his advice and royal blessing for the decision.

Gwamna, who spoke on behalf of the delegation, explained that the forum was established to promote unity, political understanding and collective interest among the Eggon people.

He said the forum had carefully considered the political aspirations of Eggon sons seeking to govern the state before arriving at the decision to adopt Ombugadu.

According to him, “David Emmanuel Ombugadu of the PDP has been adopted by the forum as our consensus candidate among the six other candidates of Eggon extraction.”

He said the decision followed wide consultations and deliberations by members of the forum, stressing that the visit to the Aren Eggon was considered necessary to formally inform the monarch and seek his counsel and royal blessings.

Responding, the Aren Eggon appreciated the members of the forum for their efforts towards promoting unity among the Eggon people.

The monarch described Ombugadu as “a blessed son of the Eggon nation,” saying his political activities had continued to make the Eggon people proud.

He said Ombugadu was not only an asset to the Eggon nation but also to Nasarawa State, while wishing him success in his political pursuit.

Justice Alaku, however, cautioned all governorship aspirants of Eggon extraction and their supporters against politics of bitterness, propaganda, blackmail and hatred.

The traditional ruler said political contests should not be allowed to destroy the existing bonds among the people, urging the various camps to conduct their activities peacefully.

He said, “Leadership comes from God. We as men can only make our human arrangements, but God alone can make it happen.”

The Aren Eggon subsequently wished Ombugadu well in his political pursuit, while urging the Eggon political class to continue to work towards unity and peaceful coexistence irrespective of political differences.
