….. insists that Ebonyi south must deliver block vote for APC

By Uchenna Okah, Abakaliki

The Ebonyi South Zonal Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Nasir Enerst Nweze, has described any governorship aspirant from the Ebonyi South Senatorial Zone in the 2027 election as a “huge joker and content creator,”

He insisted that the zone is not yet due to produce the next governor of the state.

Nweze stated this while speaking with journalists in Abakaliki, where he also called on the people of Ebonyi South to deliver what he described as a “block vote” for Governor Francis Nwifuru and other APC candidates in the 2027 general election.

The APC chieftain based his position on what he described as an established rotational arrangement in the state, noting that the North had produced former Governor Sam Egwu for eight years,

while the Central produced former Governor Martin Elechi for eight years, followed by former Governor David Umahi from the South.

According to him, power has now returned to the North under Nwifuru, who, he said, should be allowed to complete his two-term tenure before the governorship moves to another zone.

“Today, it’s back to the North through Francis Nwifuru. The first four years are gone and he is going to complete his second four years, which will make it eight years. And it will move to Central, the next zone for it,” he said.

Nweze argued that political developments across the state showed strong support for the incumbent governor, citing rallies and endorsements in communities in Ebonyi South.

He specifically mentioned Abaomege, Ishinkwo, Onicha and Oshiri as communities where he said residents had adopted Nwifuru ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

He further claimed that similar endorsements had taken place in parts of Ebonyi Central and Ebonyi North, arguing that the APC remained firmly rooted across the state.

“Ebonyi South is solidly behind APC and behind Francis Nwifuru in particular,” he declared.

The zonal chairman also dismissed criticisms of the Nwifuru administration, saying those questioning the governor’s performance should identify specific areas where they believed the government had failed.

He said the administration had recorded projects in areas including roads, traditional rulers’ residences, education and agriculture, adding that several rural roads had either been completed or were being reconstructed.

“Governor Francis Nwifuru is not a noisemaker because he is not a media person.

But he has done what no other governor has been able to do,” Nweze said, while challenging critics to point to specific sectors they considered deficient.

Nweze also cautioned opposition parties and critics against what he described as attacks on the governor’s image.

He insisted that the APC would continue to mobilize its members across Ebonyi South and the state ahead of the 2027 elections.
