By Uchenna Okah
The China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) has responded swiftly to a building collapse at Ogbalu Street, Independence Layout, Enugu, mobilizing heavy-duty equipment and professional personnel to support rescue operations.
The incident, which occurred recently, prompted the Chinese infrastructure company to deploy excavators, loaders and other resources to the scene to assist in the search for trapped victims, removal of debris and safety inspection of the affected area.
Speaking with journalists shortly after the rescue operation, the Project Manager of CCCC, Jin Haibing, said four people had so far been successfully rescued from the collapsed structure.

Haibing said the company’s intervention was aimed at supporting ongoing rescue efforts and ensuring that every available resource was deployed to assist those affected by the incident.
He said CCCC, as a Chinese company with a long-standing presence in Nigeria’s infrastructure sector, remained committed to supporting local communities and contributing to the well being and development of the people.
According to him, the company’s prompt response to the incident underscores its concern for the safety and welfare of residents in the communities where it operates.
The intervention, he added, also demonstrated the spirit of friendship, solidarity and mutual support that has continued to characterize relations between the peoples of Nigeria and China.
CCCC has been involved in major infrastructure projects in Nigeria and has consistently emphasized cooperation with local communities and partners as part of its operations in the country.
The company said it would continue to strengthen its engagement with communities and stakeholders across Nigeria through practical interventions and closer cooperation.

It added that such efforts were intended not only to contribute to local development but also to promote stronger people-to-people ties between Nigeria and China.
The company expressed its commitment to using its expertise, resources and experience to support communities and contribute to the development of Nigerian cities and infrastructure.
