C’River Monarch urges elected officials to prioritize Welfare of citizens

The Kwididen and Clan Head of Adun Kingdom, in Obubra Local Government Area of Cross River state, Ovarr Patrick Wrong has called on elected officials to prioritize the welfare of the people.
The traditional ruler made the call in his palace when an aspirant of ADC, Tawo who visited him at his palace to seek for a royal blessings ahead of 2027 election.
The visit according to the aspirant is marked by tradition and community engagement, underscored the importance of grassroots consultation and respect for ancestral authority.

Receiving the delegation, the Clan Head expressed both surprise and admiration at the early arrival of the aspirant, noting that such punctuality reflected seriousness of purpose.
He acknowledged the challenging path ahead, particularly as the aspirant contests from the opposition, and offered prayers for strength, wisdom and resilience.
He emphasized the shared heritage and unity among the people of Obubra and neighboring communities, stressing that leadership must transcend divisions.
According to him, “the people are not concerned with origins but with performance and accountability”.
He lamented a pattern of elected representatives who fail to maintain contact with their constituents after attaining office, urging a departure from such practices.
The traditional leader affirmed that the Obubra Traditional Brothers Council stands in support of credible leadership that prioritizes the welfare of the people.
He called for inclusive governance, noting that the community has long felt sidelined in decision making processes.
In his response, Tawo expressed deep appreciation for the warm reception and described the visit as a necessary first step in his consultation with the people.
He recognized the pivotal role of traditional institutions in shaping community direction and pledged to maintain a close relationship with the kingdom.
He reiterated his commitment to effective representation, promising to prioritize the needs of youths, women and children.
Tawo assured the gathering that his campaign would be rooted in accessibility, accountability and continuous engagement with constituents.
Other community chiefs who were present also offered prayers and words of encouragement, collectively invoking divine guidance, protection and success for Tawo as he embarks on the electoral journey.

They urged him to remain steadfast, uphold integrity and remember the expectations of the people he seeks to represent.
The visit concluded with prayers and formal blessings from the Clan Head, who encouraged the aspirant to remain focused and follow the electoral process diligently.
He assured Tawo of spiritual support and expressed confidence that the prayers offered would guide him through the journey ahead.
