52 Civil Servants to receive award of excellence from C’River Govt.

As part of the event to mark this year’s  civil servants day celebration, about 52 Civil Servants with the Cross River State Government are to be honoured with award of excellence by the State government 

In a chat with newsmen in Calabar the State Capital, the Cross River State Head Of Service, Innocent Eteng who made the disclosure said that award is to workers productivity.
According to him:  “the award is in recognition of their hard work as a way by the state government to encourage workers to put in more effort to  increase their level of productivity, accountability and transparency in service”.

The Head of Service who gave insight ahead of the Civil/Public Service Day celebration to be organized by the state government, stressed that the award of honour serve as a way to motivate other staff of the state government to do more.

Speaking on the theme, “Re-engineering the Cross River State Civil service for efficient service delivery”, Eteng stated that certificates and medals shall  also be given to the awardees to motivate them to bring out to get best.

“A good number of them would be given medals and automatic promotion. I can assure you that staff who had worked very hard will be given automatic promotion.

“Those to be promoted will be drawn across from the three senatorial districts of the state. The award are not to be based on any ethnic, tribal or religious sentiment”.

“We have public service and evaluations records to be used to assess civil servants. We are spreading it even up the local government councils. The selection process is going to be water tide” he stated”

The Head of Service stated that  arrangements are in top gear for the implementation of workers’ promotion adding that the state governor had given directives that workers promotion be quickly implemented.

“I had directed that the permanent Secretary should compile list of those who had been promoted and the promotions were yet to be  implemented and sent to office of accountant general of the state. 

“I can assure you that all those who whose promotions  were yet to implement, will be treated in less than no time.” He stated.

He said highlights of the civil service day will include city walk by civil servants, public lecture/award of honour to deserving workers at the UJ Esuene Stadium on August 12, 2025.
