Security: CLO demands reinstatement of DPO in Anambra

Civil Liberties Organization, CLO Anambra State branch at the weekend applauded the State Commissioner of Police, CP, Ikioye Orutugu, for his patriotism and relentless efforts in ensuring effective security of lives and properties in the state.

The state Chairman of CLO, Vincent Ezekwueme, who made this known in a statement signed by his secretary, Chidi Mbah and issued to newsmen in Awka, Anambra State said that crimes and criminalities have reduced tremendously in the state.

CLO chairman disclosed further that the group is overwhelmed and humbled by the CP’s recent visitations to scenes of recent fire disasters at Onitsha as well as some Police divisions.

“It has boosted morals of the affected traders as well as officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force.We most passionately appeal to him to kindly out of his usual patriotism, magnanimity and love for the state, re instate CSP Emeka Obi, to 3-3 Police Division, where he worked and served with selflessness, assiduousness, diligence, courage, integrity and patriotism.

“It is no exaggerating but existential reality that within few months of his stay at 3-3, he drastically reduced crimes and criminalities to the lowest minimum. He personally attended to every distress calls, takes proactive measures and prompt actions in tackling security challenges bedeviling 3-3 and its environs.

“Pertinently, CSP Obi is human rights friendly.He inculcates discipline, civility, moral rectitude and patriotism in officers and men of 3-3 Police Division.He personally provided two traffic control cubicles at the ever-busy 3-3 junction.He courageously and diplomatically eradicated activities of miscreants, touts and the frequent high traffic gridlocks at 3-3 junction which has resurfaced since his transfer,” Rights group disclosed 

Recall that on new year day 2025, the DPO personally patrolled 3-3 and its environs and apprehended some criminal elements. A resident told us how he complained to him about some criminals smoking Indian hemp in their Estate and the DPO swung into action and apprehended some of the culprits.

He also introduced and insisted on words and actions that bail is free in his Police Division.He embarked on familiarization tour of Estates under his jurisdiction with messages of peace and security consciousness including giving useful information to the Police .

He reportedly provided enough security during Christmas and New Year celebrations that no crime incidence was recorded and it is of prime importance to note that 3-3 Estates, Landlords, residents, citizens, visitors, patriotic and people of goodwill are clamouring for his return to 3-3 Police Divisions to continue in his excellent works.

According to a resident who pleaded anonymity, “DPO Obi is our envisaged police officer and guardian in whom, we are well pleased and we will be extremely grateful for the CP if our patriotic and life saving request is granted.”
