NSCDC vows to wage war against illegal mining in Anambra

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Anambra State Chapter on Wednesday, vowed to continue waging war against illegal Mining in the state.
The State Commandant, Maku Olatunde made this known in a statement signed and issued to newsmen through the Public Relations Officer, Okadigbo Edwin, shortly after a courtesy visit by the Federal Mines Officers, led by Henry Bolarinwa.
Maku emphasized the importance of collaboration between the NSCDC and the Federal Mines Officer to sanitize the mining sector and prevent economic losses caused by illegal mining.
He assured Bolarinwa of his support in promoting licensed and environmentally friendly mining activities across the state.
“It is my pleasure having you in my office, we are going to collaborate in repositioning and improving the activities of miners in the state
“The NSCDC remains resolute in its mission to protect the environment and prevent illegal activities that harm the economy.” he said.
Earlier, the Federal Mines Officer, Anambra State, Bolarinwa expressed his appreciation for the NSCDC’s commitment and highlighted the need to curb the activities of illegal miners, who he described as economic saboteurs.
He sought partnership and collaboration with the NSCDC to succeed in his assignment in the state.
