Crisis: NULGE Disowns Petition, Passes Vote of Confidence on Local Executives in Benue
From Attah Ede, Makurdi
The Members of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, Ado Local Government Chapter in Benue State, on Wednesday, disowned a written petition masterminded by some faceless individuals, claiming to be members of the union to create crisis.
The members who are completely staff of Ado LGC, made this known at the end of their congress meeting held at the Council’s secretariat in Igumale, headquarters of Ado.
They however, pledged their total support and allegiance to the leadership of the union under the chairmanship of Agbese Joseph Onazi.
In the resolutions taken at the end of their meeting, the members dissociated themselves from the actions of one Mr. Agbo Agbese, whom they accused of dubiously collated fake signatories of some members and masterminded a petition against the union’s leadership to cause division and enmity within the rank and file of Ado NULGE.
The Nations News Nigeria reports that, Godwin Orinya moved for the affirmation of the resolutions and was seconded by Sunday Ochima during the Congress meeting.
The Congress which was attended by over one hundred members of the union, noted that despite the hands of brotherhood extended to Agbo, whose salary payment point is still in Agatu LGC but worked in Ado LGC, he was bent in creating division and laying false allegation of misappropriation against the union’s leadership.
The Congress noted that Agbo has not been contributing a dime to the union’s account ever since he was redeployed to Ado in 2012.
The members, therefore, enjoined all NULGE officials both at state and national level, members of the public as well State Government, law enforcement agencies to disregard any publication or petition, correspondence from Agbo or his so-called petitioners, saying that at no point decision was taken to engage any individual or law firm to generate petition against the Ado NULGE leadership.
Furthermore, members vehemently kick against this unwholesome actions of Mr. Agbo, his cohorts and subsequently passed a vote of confidence in the leadership of Comrade Agbese Joseph Onazi, noting that the said petition is not only misleading, but it is also an impetus for gross acrimony and disaffection within the NULGE family.
The Ado NULGE however, warned Mr. Agbo to desist from using the name of the union as an instrument to fight and sabotage the administration of his immediate younger brother, Charles Agbese who is the caretaker committee chairman for Ado LGC, just because of inordinate ambitious.
They unanimously pledged their unalloyed support and corporation to the leadership of the union in the local, state and national levels for the overall development of Benue State and Nigeria.
The NULGE members equally commended the Ado LGC caretaker committee chairman, Charles Agbese for making the union more vibrant and virile in discharging its function, saying members will continue to sustain their support for his administration to succeed.
The union adviced Agbo to stop dragging the Ado council chairman into NULGE politics and name-calling, saying that the Chairman since coming on board, has tried to enhance the welfare and wellbeing of workers.
