The former governorhip candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ebonyi state, Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii on Wednesday said he has forgiven those who betrayed him in the last 2023 gubernatorial election that took place in the state.

Odii made this known while addressing mammoth crowds and other prominent stakeholders of the Party during a One day strategic stakeholders meeting, held at his resident, Onicha LGA, Ebonyi State.

He said: “I am always intentional with making progress in life. In like manner, let me particularly remind us that we must therefore forge ahead, and in forging forward, I believe that it is important for us to remain resolute, united and focused on our shared goals and aspirations of a prosperous Ebonyi State.

Odii however, commended party members for their commitment towards the progress of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state.

“We must continue to engage with our communities and people; listen to their needs, and collectively work together as usual to address their concerns with love, compassion, and hope in a state that flourishes. I am sure that together, we can build a stronger and sustainable future for all Ebonyians.

“As I take quick reflections; beginning with our formal declaration of intention to run election in 2023, our primary elections; the myriads of post primary election litigations, our campaign journeys, the actual elections and indeed, the post-election litigations. I must say that I am proud of the passion, commitment, and resilience demonstrated by each one of you.

“The election results may not have been what we hoped for, I believe that our commitment to consultative, zero bloodshed, and non-violent electioneering and politicking approach was a testament to our outstanding values and principles. We ran an issue based campaign, predicated on integrity, inclusivity, and clear-cut strategic plans for the growth development and well-being of our people.

“As we look ahead, I am more persuaded than ever that our opportunities for greater positive impact in the state are more glaring than ever. For me, as your passionate servant-leader, I am committed to continuing our work together in finding new ways to engage with our people in addressing their growing needs.

“I am deeply concerned about the all-time rising rate of poverty, unemployment and hunger in the state; lack of access to portable water, the non-existence of viable industries in the state, declining standard of education, lack of access to healthcare service delivery, poor state’s rating in the ease of doing business, and the disturbing human development indices of the State, among other critical issues of grave concern.

“Our collective gratitude also goes to all those who took the ways of Judas and abused the trust and confidence that we reposed in them. No doubt, your actions may have caused us temporary setbacks, but they have only made us stronger, more united, and more dedicated to our cause.

“Your actions have taught us valuable lessons about loyalty, integrity, and the importance of standing firm in the face of adversity. It has united us in our resolve to fight against corruption, injustice, sycophancy, and greed.
