The wife of Ebonyi State Governor, Mrs. Uzoamaka Mary-Maudiline Nwifuru, has called on women across the state to massively support and vote for candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.

Mrs. Nwifuru made the call at the grand finale of the 2026 August Meeting for Ebonyi women, held at the Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium, Abakaliki, with the theme, “The Power of Resilient Women in Nation Building.”

She described the annual August Meeting as an important platform for women to reconnect with government, their communities and, most importantly, recognize their capacity to contribute meaningfully to the development of the state.

According to her, resilience should not merely be viewed as the ability to endure hardship, but as the capacity to recover, adapt, learn and rebuild in the face of challenges.

She said Ebonyi women had consistently demonstrated resilience through farming, business, education, family responsibilities and other endeavours, describing them as the pride of their communities.

Mrs. Nwifuru, however, urged the women to move beyond resilience as a means of survival to using it as an instrument of transformation, stressing that they had responsibilities to their families, communities and the state.

On the 2027 elections, she urged the women to reflect on the administration that had supported them through appointments, programmes and policies aimed at improving their welfare and participation in governance.

She said the administration of Governor Francis Nwifuru had provided women with opportunities in healthcare, education, economic empowerment and governance, adding that such interventions should not be taken for granted.

She said: “As women, we must remember those who have remembered us, support those who have supported us, and stand with leadership that has demonstrated genuine commitment to the well-being and advancement of our people.”

The governor’s wife urged the women to make their votes count by supporting APC candidates, saying the party and its leaders had demonstrated commitment to their welfare.

“My dear friends, it is time to show appreciation and vote for our APC candidates in the forthcoming election. They have supported us.

It is now for us to show our own support, and I know my women will not disappoint me,” she said.

Mrs. Nwifuru also empowered 52 market women who had demonstrated resilience in sustaining their businesses, presenting them with cash donations to strengthen their economic activities.
