Tinubu Orders S-East Infrastructure Rescue, Umahi Moves In- Nweze

The Federal Government has intensified efforts to rehabilitate critical roads and bridges across the South-East and other parts of the country.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (South-East), Chioma Nweze, applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of Works, Senator David Nweze Umahi, for the renewed intervention.

Nweze stated this after joining Umahi on inspection of critical infrastructure projects in Delta and Anambra States, including the Benin–Agbor–Asaba Road and the First Niger Bridge.

According to her, the inspection provided clear evidence of the seriousness with which the Tinubu administration was responding to infrastructure challenges affecting commuters, businesses and communities across the country.

She commended President Tinubu for directing immediate action on critical infrastructure, describing the move as a demonstration of responsive and people-centered leadership.

Nweze also praised Umahi for translating the President’s directive into practical action, saying the minister’s hands-on approach had demonstrated urgency, technical competence and commitment to delivering the infrastructure component of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

She said the inspection of the Benin–Agbor–Asaba Road, the First Niger Bridge and other strategic road corridors underscored the Federal Government’s commitment not only to constructing new infrastructure but also to rehabilitating and preserving existing assets of national importance.

According to her, the First Niger Bridge remains a critical economic and social link between the South-East and other parts of the country, facilitating trade, movement of people and goods, livelihoods and national integration.

“The determination to restore, strengthen and preserve such strategic infrastructure reflects a government that understands the importance of roads and bridges to economic growth, trade, movement and national unity,” she said.

Nweze, who spoke on behalf of the people of the South-East, expressed confidence that sustained collaboration among the Presidency, the Ministry of Works, state governments and local communities would ensure that critical infrastructure across the region receives the attention it deserves.

She said the ongoing interventions had sent a clear message that critical roads and bridges should not be allowed to deteriorate when they could be restored, strengthened and preserved for present and future generations.

Nweze urged stakeholders to sustain their support for the Federal Government’s infrastructure drive, expressing optimism that the Renewed Hope Agenda would continue to deliver projects capable of connecting communities, strengthening the economy and improving the quality of life of Nigerians.
