2027: Ebonyi Market Women Vow to Re-elect Gov. Nwifuru for 2nd Term

The Ebonyi Market Women Association has declared its support for the re-election bid of Governor Francis Nwifuru in the 2027 general elections, pledging to mobilize thousands of votes across the state to ensure his victory.

The President of the association, Mrs. Nwali Patience, made the declaration while addressing journalists in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital.

She dismissed claims of a crisis within the association, insisting that the group remains united and committed to supporting the governor’s administration.

According to her, Governor Nwifuru’s performance in office, particularly in infrastructure development and educational advancement through scholarship programmes, has earned him the confidence and support of market women across the state.

“We are here to commend the good work of Governor Francis Nwifuru for the remarkable achievements recorded in Ebonyi State, especially in programmes that have positively impacted market women,” she said.

“Ebonyi market women are very proud of him. We have endorsed him and we are reaffirming our commitment to vote massively for him in 2027. 

“I have mobilized women across the 13 local government areas and the 171 wards of the state.”

Mrs. Nwali disclosed that members of the association have commenced efforts to encourage women to obtain and register their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the election.

“Our women are collecting and registering for their voter cards to ensure that come 2027, Governor Francis Nwifuru will be re-elected,” she stated.

She called on Ebonyi residents to support the governor’s administration, describing it as one that deserves continuity.

“We are using this medium to call on all Ebonyians and peace-loving people of the state to join hands in ensuring that the good governance brought by Governor Nwifuru is sustained for eight years,” she added.

Also speaking, the State Secretary of the association, Mrs. Rita Anyigor, reiterated the group’s support for the governor, citing his developmental strides across the state.

“We are strongly in support of the second-term re-election of Governor Francis Nwifuru because of the good work he has been doing for our people,” she said.

“What we are showing him is that, come rain or shine, he will win the 2027 election. We are standing firmly behind him and will deliver our votes.”

Mrs. Anyigor assured the governor that the association’s support remained unwavering.

“Our votes are intact for him. We will mobilize not only ourselves but also our husbands, children, relatives and friends to support his re-election,” she said.

She further revealed that the association is collaborating with stakeholders at the grassroots to ensure that eligible women in rural communities obtain or update their voter registration records.

“If there is anyone who has not collected their PVC, we are encouraging them to visit their local government areas and obtain it,” she said.

“I am confident that stakeholders across the wards are making arrangements to bring officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) closer to the people for registration and voter card updates.”

According to her, such efforts would enable those who have lost their voter cards or wish to transfer and update their registration details to do so before the next general election.

In separate remarks, some members of the association, including Mrs. Nkechi Obinna from Afikpo North, Mrs. Ngozi Abba from Ebonyi Central and Mrs. Azim Veronica from Ebonyi North, 

They also endorsed Governor Nwifuru for a second term, expressing confidence in his leadership and achievements since assuming of office.
