2027: Aliuna Vows to end poverty, unemployment, poor roads in Ebonyi/ Ohaukwu

The House of Representatives candidate of the Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA) for the Ebonyi/Ohaukwu Federal Constituency, Aliuna Godwin, has vowed to tackle poverty, unemployment, poor road networks and communal clashes if elected in the 2027 general election.

Aliuna made the commitment while speaking with newsmen in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, where he expressed concern over the level of hardship, poverty and suffering confronting residents of the constituency.

He said the prevailing socioeconomic challenges affecting the people could be reversed through purposeful representation, effective policies and programmes targeted at improving the living conditions of constituents.

According to him, his ambition to represent the constituency at the National Assembly is driven by the desire to provide effective representation and attract meaningful development to the people of Ebonyi/Ohaukwu.

Aliuna urged residents and stakeholders in the constituency to carefully consider the competence, character, integrity and track record of candidates before casting their votes in the 2027 election.

He stressed the need for voters to elect a representative who is God-fearing, accessible and genuinely committed to addressing the challenges confronting the people, rather than one whose primary interest is personal enrichment.

The DLA candidate also called on politicians contesting various elective positions in Ebonyi State to conduct their campaigns with civility and restraint, urging them to prioritize issues that directly affect the people.

He appealed to all candidates and their supporters to shun politics of bitterness, rancour, violence, character assassination and other forms of political hostility capable of threatening the peace of the state.

Aliuna further expressed confidence that, if elected, he would pursue an aggressive job-creation agenda aimed at reducing unemployment among young people in the constituency.

He promised to facilitate opportunities that would enable graduates and other qualified youths in Ebonyi/Ohaukwu Federal Constituency to secure meaningful employment, while also promoting initiatives that would support entrepreneurship and economic empowerment.

He also identified improved road infrastructure as one of the areas requiring urgent attention, stressing that good roads are essential to economic growth, movement of people and goods, agricultural development and access to markets.

The candidate equally promised to support efforts aimed at preventing and resolving communal conflicts, noting that peace and security are critical to attracting investment and achieving sustainable development in the constituency.

Aliuna advised the electorate not to vote solely on the basis of political party affiliation, but to assess candidates based on their individual capacity, competence, character and ability to deliver tangible dividends of democracy.

He maintained that political office should be viewed as an opportunity to serve the people and improve their welfare, rather than as a platform for accumulating wealth for oneself and one’s family.

The DLA candidate therefore urged the people of Ebonyi/Ohaukwu Federal Constituency to make an informed decision in 2027, expressing optimism that their support would usher in a new era of effective representation, economic empowerment and infrastructural development.
