Agency seeks 40% reduction in Adamawa’s Poverty Level

The Director General of the Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency (PAWECA), Michael Zira, has expressed optimism that the poverty level in Adamawa State will be reduced by 40% by next year.
According to him, this projection is based on the substantial funds being released by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri to empower youth and women through PAWECA.
Zira made this disclosure during a courtesy visit by the Luminaries Class of 2024, Modibbo Adama University (MAU), Yola, to his office.
He reaffirmed PAWECA’s commitment to advancing the course of women and youths in the state through vocational training empowerment.
The agency’s initiatives aim to equip young people with practical skills, enhancing their employability and entrepreneurial capabilities.
The Director General attributed the agency’s success to the support of Governor Fintiri, assuring that PAWECA will build on this foundation to achieve more.
He urged the students to take advantage of the skills training offered by PAWECA after completing their studies, before mobilizing for the National Youth Service Corps.
The team leader of the Luminaries Class, Sa’ad Mohammed, Speaker of MAU Yola, commended Dr. Zira for his support to students in the institution.
He described PAWECA as the best agency that has positively impacted lives across the state and expressed the group’s desire to partner with the agency in promoting the programs and policies of the state government. During the visit, Zira was presented with an award of excellence for his outstanding performance.
Governor Fintiri’s administration has demonstrated a strong commitment to reducing poverty in Adamawa State.
The release of substantial funds to PAWECA is a testament to this commitment. Zira’s confidence in achieving a 40% reduction in poverty level is a reflection of the governor’s effective leadership and vision for the state.
