Adamawa govt. approves N135bn Supplementary Budget

The Adamawa State Executive Council, at its 18th meeting for 2025, has approved a supplementary budget of N135 billion for the 2025 fiscal year. 

This brings the state’s total budget size to N621.2 billion, up from N486.2 billion. 

The approval was made during a meeting presided over by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.

The council approved several key projects, including. N14.9 billion for the reconstruction of the 24km Mubi–Maiha road, a project expected to be completed within 15 months. 

The project was awarded to Messrs Triacta Nigeria.N1.2 billion as counterpart funds for the 2025 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Conditional Grant Scheme (CGS) implementation in the state.

The Commissioner of Budget, Mr. Emmanuel Pridimso, explained that the supplementary budget became necessary following additional revenue recorded by the state government. 

This will enable the government to complete ongoing projects and initiate new ones.

The Commissioner of Works and Energy, Hon. Adamu Atiku, revealed that the Mubi–Maiha road project is a federal project that was last constructed and abandoned in 2002.

However, the state government has intervened to alleviate the suffering of its citizens. 

The project is expected to improve the transportation infrastructure in the region and boost economic activity.

The State Focal Person on SDGs, Muhammad Alfa Raji, emphasized that counterpart funding will enhance development in the state. 

He called on the federal government to release its own share of funds to ensure the successful implementation of developmental projects.

The approval of the supplementary budget and key projects is expected to have a positive impact on the state’s economy and infrastructure.

 The projects will improve the lives of citizens, create jobs, and stimulate economic growth. 

The state government’s commitment to development and infrastructure is evident in its approval of these key projects.
