Gov Bala charges Shira council boss to discharge his duties with the fear of God, trust

Bauchi States Governor, Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir has told the newly elected Chairman of the Shira Local Government Area, Babangida Ishaq Abdullahi that leadership is a trust, which needs to discharge it with the fear of God.

The Governor gave the charge during the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected Chairman of Shira Local Government Area, held at the Banquet Hall, Bauchi State Government House. Urged the Chairman to also rule with honesty, justice, humility, and unwavering dedication to the wellbeing of the good people of the LGA.

He urged the new chairman to work closely with his deputy, councillors, traditional rulers, youth and women leaders, and other stakeholders to deliver meaningful development.

Governor Bala who was represented by his Deputy, Mohammed Auwal Jatau. Said “The people of Shira Local Government Area have spoken clearly through the ballot. They have entrusted you with their mandate. You must not take this trust for granted “

He noted that the conduct of the bye-election was a result of the suspension and removal of the former leadership of the Local Government Council, following proven cases of misconduct.

“Let this new beginning be an opportunity for reconciliation, unity, and progress in Shira. Avoid actions that will bring dishonor to your office or discredit the trust the people have reposed in you. I will not hesitate to act decisively in cases of misgovernance or abuse of office, as demonstrated in the recent past.”

He urged the newly elected chairman to be prudent in the management of public resources and ensure inclusive leadership that listens to the people, respects diversity, and addresses the genuine needs of the communities through governing with transparency, strict adherence to due process, be guided always by the constitution, laws, and the policies of the administration.

Governor Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir Mohammed congratulated the newly elected Chairman of Shira Local Government, Babangida Ishaq Abdullahi  through a transparent, peaceful, and constitutionally guided bye-election conducted by the Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC).
