By, Usman David
The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has remanded former Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), Danladi Umar, at the Kuje Correctional Centre pending the hearing of his bail application.
Umar was arraigned on Thursday before Justice Peter Kekemeke of the FCT High Court sitting in Maitama, Abuja, on allegations bordering on abuse of office.
The former CCT chairman was brought before the court on a four-count charge filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which accused him of offences related to the alleged abuse of his official position.

Following his arraignment, the court ordered that Umar be remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre pending the determination of his bail application.
The case has been adjourned to a date to be announced by the court for the hearing of the bail application and further proceedings.
The EFCC is prosecuting the matter as part of its ongoing efforts to enforce accountability and address allegations of corruption and abuse of public office.

Further details of the charges are expected to emerge as the trial progresses.
