Enuogu community petitions Gov. Mbah over rising marginalization, leadership crisis

The citizens of Ihuezeofia village in Enuogu Autonomous community Nkerefi Nkanu East local government area of Enugu state have called for the immediate intervention of governor Peter Mbah over the rising marginalization and leadership crisis rocking the area.

Enuogu citizens made this known, in a statement signed by it’s leaders; Comrade Edeson Chukwudi, chairman Ihuezeofia village, Prof. Kenneth Ogbodo, Secretary general Ihuezeofia village and Elder Elijah Chukwu, senior citizen Ihuezeofia village and issued to newsmen on Monday.

The leaders of Enuogu community lamented that the community has for the past decades been marginalized and deprived of any meaningful infrastructural projects.

They, however, urged the governor, Peter Mbah to call to order some prominent individuals who are in his government to desist from holding the community hostage and preventing them from electing its President General, PG, from June 2025.

The statement reads in part; “We call on the executive governor of Enugu state to as a matter of urgency wade into the leadership crisis rocking Enuogu community since June 2025.

“Enuogu community are being held hostage by some individuals who believe that the community belongs to them and that

 They will choose whoever they want to be the president general (PG) of the community against the will of the citizens because of their position in the government,

“Ihuezeofia village has been marginalized since the creation of Enuogu Autonomous community.

“No single government presence in our village, not even one  project from the government is sited in Ihuezeofia village.

“Enuogu Autonomous community has six gazetted villages, five out of the six have produced president general (PG) of the community except Ihuezeofia whose turn has been hijacked by the power that be.

“Enuogu Autonomous was created 20 years ago but till date Enuogu has no constitution,  the igwe , the former president generals.

The current Caretaker committee chairman who now introduced himself as the president general of Enuogu Autonomous community has and is operating or ruling the community with three different constitutions.

“We also wrote to the commissioner for chieftaincy and rural development Hon.Charls Egungbe, through our lawyer but no response from either side till today.

“As a peace loving village we choose to go through the media because we believe that nobody will block our report from reaching Peter Mbah” the statement noted.
