Bauchi Govt to train 100,000 citizens, 2,000 youths on software

Bauchi State government has said it will partner National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) to train 100,000 citizens and 2000 youth in advance field like software development, cloud computing and data analytics by 2027.

Governor Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir said this during the official flag-off of the Digital Literacy and Skills Framework, the Cyber Nations Program, and signing of the MOU between the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) and the Bauchi State Government on data governance, held at the old banquet hall, Bauchi State Government House.

He said that the program is a strategic investment in our human capital, where 500 young talents will be trained in various cybersecurity roles through the next few years and have them placed in various organizations within the country and around the globe to get the required experience and ultimately set-up self-sustaining businesses of their own

He further said that his government is committed to making digital literacy a right for all and using technology to create jobs and fight poverty.

According to the governor, said “Working with NITDA, we will train over 100,000 citizens in basic digital skills and 2,000 youths in advanced fields like software development, cloud computing, and data analytics by 2027”

‘Our Cyber Nation Programme, in partnership with Protexxa Inc., is the first of its kind in Nigeria and second in Africa, set to train 500 certified cybersecurity experts for both local and international opportunities”

‘Through our Data Protection Policy, developed with the NDPC, we will safeguard citizens’ digital rights and ensure compliance with national data laws across all government institutions”

“We should remember that digital transformation is not achieved by the government alone; it is a shared mission. I therefore call on our youths to embrace these opportunities with both hands, our private sector to invest boldly, and our development partners to walk this journey with us. Together, we can and will make Bauchi the digital innovation hub that Nigeria will be proud of’

The governor, Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir of the State expressed his appreciation for the strong support from NITDA, NCC, Galaxy Backbone, NIGCOMSAT, Almuhibbah Open University, and other partners. Said “Together, we are building a secure, inclusive, and globally competitive digital economy for Bauchi State”
