Bauchi Govt Confirms Killing of 40yrs-old farmer, Cows in Bogoro

Governor Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir has confirmed the killing of the 40 year old farmer Irmiya Yohanna of Kadunan Bogoro, Bogoro local government area by the Fulani Herdsmen 

Bala gave the confirmation when addressing the communities at the Police station, Bogoro. Said the persons who act will surely be punished.

The governor who was represented by his Deputy, Mohammed Auwal Jatau said “We’ll not allow any Fulani Herdsmen to kill farmers and go free without facing the law.

“We want to assure you that not only someone from Bogoro Local Government but someone either from Plateau State or Borno will stop and kill in Bauchi without punishing the person who did that.

Adding that from today, the Bauchi State government will put securities in a strategic position to arrest anybody that kills someone, so that the government will take action.

He begged the good people of Bogoro Local Government not to take any decision or law into their hands.

The governor sympathizes with the immediate family of the departed soul, the affected community and the entire Bogoro Local Government.

In his part, the youth leader of the local government, Yawa Habila, expressed their appreciation to the state government for their quick response on what happened to one of them.

He said that In Bogoro Local Government  we don’t have anything other than our farms, we are not farming in order to provoke anybody and we don’t want anybody to provoke us.

The youth leader begs his people to be patient and give the government the benefit of thought to see what changes they bring to the situation.

He said that “If the government refuses to do anything, then anything that we want to do is left for us.

While meeting in Gital with Ardo of the Fulani, Sai’du thanked the government of Bauchi State for their response to the situation.

Ardo said that he has become a Bogoro indigene because his grandfather, father and him were all born there, adding that his family, wealth are in Bogoro.

He said that there’s serious challenges between the herdsmen and farmers  because “We have never seen Fulani to be much in Bogoro like this year.

He further said the reason why Fulani Herdsmen full Bogoro is because of living peacefully with one another and there’s not enough space for their cows. 

The Ardo of the Fulani urged Herdsmen to be farmers’ friends in other Bogoro local governments to continue living peacefully like before.

He also begged the state government to first compensate the family of the 40 year old man that lost his life, then cows and sheeps that were killed by the angry farmers.
