Adamawa Gov. Fintiri approves 14billion for the construction of international conference centre

The Adamawa State governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has approved fourteen billion naira for the construction of the International Conference Centre and upgrading of College of Agricultural Science for optimum services.

The governor through the commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. James Iliya alongside other commissioners briefed Government House Correspondents shortly after the Council meeting.

Mr. James Iliya said the funds would be made available to cater for rural access Agricultural marketing projects that would take shape and capture the abandoned projects in the State.

According to him, the approval was not a supplementary budget for the projects to be carried out.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy also revealed that the council also approved the award of contract to engage consultants for pre-and post-contract services for the remodelling and redevelopment of the quarters for the staff of Specialist Hospital Yola.

He revealed the intention of the State Government to embark on a climate related challenges awareness campaign based on the reports received from the Nigerian Meteorological Agency on the 2025 weather outlook.

Also Speaking, the commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Emmanuel Predimso said the approved budget amendment/virement will come up with new projects that are necessary to the State.

Also Speaking, the Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Chief Felix announced that the kidney dialysis centre at the Adamawa State Specialist Hospital Yola and general Hospital Numan  have already commenced operation for free services to the people, advising people to stay hydrated at all times.

The Commissioner for Environment, Mohammed Sadiq disclosed that fourteen local government areas were affected last year with drought and flooding as a result of climate challenges in Adamawa State.

 The Commissioner said the Council has mandated a committee to carryout assignment and report back within the period of one-week aim to provide solutions on the possible ways to minimize the impact of climate change in Adamawa State.
