Food Security: Monarch, Komo cautions subjects against selling farm produce in Bauchi

The Traditional Leader of Zaar Kingdom (Gung Zaar Select) retired Air Commodore Ishaku Komo has cautioned people against selling of farm produce in the state.

He said that it is unnecessary for anyone to engage in selling farm produce, and therefore, warned citizens to shun all forms of stealing, as a way to avert possible hunger in the land.

He gave the advice while delivering his speech at the 2024 Lhm Zaar Annual Cultural/Traditional Festival at the central primary school Tafawa-Baleawa local government area of Bauchi State.

The Monarch educated his subjects on the need to resist the temptation of selling what they produced during the 2024 farming season for pleasure but store them very well in order to reduce hardship in 2025.

Pleased with the peaceful conduct of the mammoth crowd that graced the event,  Komo commended the Police Commissioner, Bauchi state Command for providing watertight security before and during the Lhm Zaar annual cultural/traditional festival.

The Monarch while delivering his speech, likened the CP to King Solomon in the Bible who used wisdom to end child ownership tussles between two nursing mothers living in the same house.

The Gung Zaar Select of Zaar Land, retired Air Commodore Ishaku Komo said that the main reason for the celebration is to thank God for a bumper harvest and his grace throughout the year.

In his speech, the guest speaker of the occasion, Philip Hayab John who is the Principal Research Fellow, Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution, Abuja.With the theme of his presentation was A Call for a Zaar Movement: Together the Zaar March to Overcome Challenges. Saying that Zaar land faces numerous challenges that can appear overwhelming.

He said that the challenges could be social, economic, and environmental issues, often leaving the people feeling isolated and powerless but by uniting and supporting one another, the Zaar can overcome any obstacle that comes their way and create a better future.

He said that only a united society can overcome the threatening challenges faced with resilience. In unity, society gathers strength, as individualism has shown to be detrimental, especially regarding collective progress.

The guest speaker of the program, Dr. Philip John called on people of the area to join the Zaar Renaissance and be part of a Zaar community that uplifts, empowers, and inspires unity in diversity, social justice and equity, irrespective of faith. 

In his part,  the Chairman central planning committee, Honorable Bulus Iliya expressed his appreciation to the Almighty God for making the occasion to be reality, saying that without God the 2024 Lhm Zaar Festival would have not hold due to some selfish interest of individuals but God is above everybody.

He thanked the entire Zaar land for using their resources, time, energy and enmass to celebrate the occasion of the 2024 Lhm Zaar Cultural/Traditional festival.

The central planning committee chairman urged Zaar people to do away with their differences to come together and develop the land.

According to the Chairman said that “This year festival comes with a lot of challenges that the join group said that never Zaar Cultural Festival to hold but glory be God we have done it successfully”

He said that “As a youth and Chairman of the central planning committee of the 2024 Lhm Zaar Cultural Festival we’ll not allow our culture to die because of individual interest in the land.
