Anambra : 120 students  offer scholarship by Calvary Care Foundation

No fewer than 120 students  of Gozie Anyachebelu Polytechnic, (GOZPOLY), have been offered scholarship by the Calvary Care Foundation of the Diocese on the Niger, Anglican Communion, Anambra State.

The foundation, a Non Government Organization, ( NGO), powered by the Calvary Chapel of the diocese, has since 2014 said to have given more than 300 scholarships  to some of the beneficiaries who have long graduated from various tertiary institutions in the country.

Bishop on the Niger, the Rt Rev Owen Nwokolo, disclosed the foundation’s philanthropy during the chapel’s annual thanksgiving and Mission Foundation Day held at the Bishop’s court, GRA, Onitsha, Sunday.

Announcing the inclusion of the 120  scholarships earlier given to students of Gozie Anyachebelu Polytechnic, GOZPOLY, the recipients, in a frenzy disposition leaped with joy, appreciating the bishop and the benefactor foundation.

 Nwokolo who briefly narrated a seeming history of both the Calvary Chapel and the foundation, underscored the philanthropic philosophy of the foundation and stressed the need for people to always give assistance to the less privileged.

 He had while praying for the students, encouraged them to take their studies very seriously, appealing to them to endeavour to make good use of the opportunities before them.

Earlier, the Sub-Dean of the All Saints’ Cathedral, Onitsha, Ven Samuel Ezewudo, had in a 20-minute message; “Becoming a benevolent beneficiary”, entreated the students and ambassadors of the Calvary Chapel to always be appreciative of God’s goodness and mercies upon their lives.

 “The Lord heals us of all our diseases. Look at us, 10 days to the end of the year, you are not in the hospital, you are not in a terrible situation or the other.

“Many of us were sick this year, the Lord healed us. It is a great benefit and for that we’ve come to say thank You Lord for what you have done”, he added.

Also, the Chairman of the foundation’s Annual Thanksgiving Committee, Vivian Onwuekwe, had in her three-page welcome address, commended the bishop and his wife, Else Nonyelum Nwokolo, for what she described as their doggedness in establishing the University on the Niger and the GOZPOLY.

According to her, the establishment of the institutions has made it possible “for our teeming young population who are eager to further their education to have a place of quality learning next to their doorsteps.”

 The committee chairman thanked all the  people who attended the event and profoundly appreciated members of the committee for various contributions which she said they made towards the success of the year’s ceremony
