Sports: C’River govt. organizers 24km Marathon race in Calabar

The cross river state government has announced her readiness to host the 3rd edition of 24km Calabar Marathon taking place on the 19th of April, 2025
Making the disclosure in Calabar yesterday, the managing Director, Cross River State tourism Bureau, Mr Ekpenyong Ojoi, the organizers of the marathon event said the 24km event is a veritable tool to take youths out from the streets
He said that the Calabar Marathon is growing bigger with an expected runners of about 500 as against the previous editions of 300, adding that this year’s event is expecting athletes from all over the country

Ojoi stated that there is an increase in the price money for this year’s edition as the star price for both male and female category will attract One million Naira while the second place male and female will go home with five hundred thousand Naira each and the third place three hundred thousand Nair
In his remark, the project manager of the event, Mr Charles Ada said the event is a tourism event hosted by Tourism Bureau which is one of its annual event maintaining that the are expecting athletes from places like Kenya, Sudan and Tanzania to join in the race
Ada also stated that the Calabar Marathon is a different brand that has nothing to do with the Obudu mountain race which is a much bigger and an international event that would bring runners from all over the world.
