Reps Aspirant, Godiya Wakil dumps PDP for APM, Cites Persistent Internal Crisis

The aspirant of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for Bogoro, Dass and Tafawa-Balewa federal constituency, Iliya Godiya Wakil on Wednesday defected and joined Allied People’s Movement (APM) ahead of the 2027 general election.
In a letter dated 4/5, 2026, addressed to the PDP chairman, Lusa B. Ward of Bogoro local government area of the state. Wakil attributed his exit to persistent internal conflict and factionalization within the party.
“Kindly accept this letter as my official resignation and take note of my withdrawal from all party activities and responsibilities”

Describing the move as a difficult but necessary decision, said it followed wide consultations and careful considerations with political associates, key stakeholders, friends, family and supporters.
According to him said that “I sincerely expressed my appreciation to the PDP for the privilege and opportunity given to me in other to be one of the aspirant in the 2023 general election and also their full card carrying member of the party”
Wakil said that he remains grateful for the experiences and relationships built during his time in the party.
He said that the decision of leaving the PDP for APM is due to the unresolved internal crises within the party, which have made it increasingly difficult for him to continue his participation and contribute meaningfully to its activities.

The APM aspirant for Bogoro, Dass and Tafawa-Balewa federal constituency and the chieftain of the party, Honourable Iliya Godiya Wakil call on the people of the constituency to fully support his campaign for the development of the area, Bauchi State and Nigeria at large.
