Police arrest 9 suspects, declare war against criminalities in Niger

The Niger State Police Command has continued its offensive against criminal elements within the 25 local government areas of the state.
In the latest crime bulletin by the Command public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun disclosed that about nine suspects including serving military personnel were arrested for various offences.
The Command said its ongoing Crack down is part of efforts to decimate crimes and criminality in the State, the following recent achievements were recorded
According to him, On 3rd April, 2025 at about 2.30pm, based on a complaint received, the Crack Squad of the Command arrested two suspects;
Mohammed Usman a.k.a Small, 18yrs of Tunga, Minna and
Mohammed Abdullahi a.k.a Kola 22yrs of Paiko area.
The Statement explained that on 28th March, 2025 at about 5pm, the said Usman boarded a motorcycle to a hotel around Tunga by Old City-gate, and after dropping, he invited the cyclist to his hotel room, while he tricked the cyclist, took his motorcycle key and locked him in the room.
“Usman made away with the motorcycle with the key and took it to Abdullahi in Paiko for sale.
” In the course of investigation, Police detectives swung into action and arrested Abdullahi who has a pending case of criminal force and assault over a gang fight at a mining site in Paiko.”

Abdullahi was said to have led Police operatives to a mining site in Paiko where Usman was waiting for him to collect the proceeds of the crime, and he was arrested too.
“Two motorcycles were recovered from Abdullahi and he confessed that Usman brought the motorcycles to him for sale.
” Usman also confessed to the crime and stated he stole one of the motorcycles from Obajana, Kogi State at a mining site early last month”
The two suspects are under investigation in the Crack Squad office, with the two motorcycles recovered.
Similarly, on 23rd March, 2025 at about 3pm, Police said they received information that, on 21st March, 2025 at about 11pm, the driver of a Toyota Corolla vehicle with Reg. No. EPE 94 FT was at Kubwa, FCT Abuja, and parked the vehicle within the area, upon his return, he discovered that the vehicle was stolen.
In the course of investigation, the vehicle was tracked to a location along Dikko-Maje road. The Police patrol team attached to Make Div moved to the location, and the vehicle was recovered from where it was abandoned.
A Military person was also apprehended by the State Police Command as On 30/3/2025 at about 3pm, one Abdulrahman Salisu 26yrs of Abdusalam quarters was brought to Central Police Station, Minna with three of his fingers being cut off.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the victim who sells shoes around the Makera area of Minna had a misunderstanding with a suspected soldier, one Pte. Sadiq Sani of 2 Div Brig. Garrison when he went to buy a pair of shoes in the victim’s shop.
An argument ensued as a result of payment, while the said soldier removed a cutlass from his trousers and attempted to cut the victim on the head, but Salisu raised his hand to block his head and the soldier eventually cut off three fingers of the victim, and escaped from the scene.
The suspect was later arrested at his residence in Makera area of Minna and transferred to SCID Minna for further investigation. He was handed over to Military Police for further necessary action.
Meanwhile, the clampdown on miscreants and raid of criminal hideouts in Minna continues as, on Sunday, 6th April, 2025 at about 2am, ‘A’ Div Minna conducted a sting operation within Kwangila/Keteren-Gwari areas of Minna, and six miscreants were apprehended;
“All suspects are under investigation, further actions are being intensified to reduce criminality in the State”
