NAPPS BoT sacks factions in Cross River Chapter

The Board of Trustees, BoT, of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, NAPPS, has sacked the two factions laying claim to the leadership of its Cross River State chapter.

The BoT has also appointed Ikom Chapter as host for the 2026 NAPPS Day celebration scheduled for October 12 in the Central Senatorial District.

Disclosing this to our reporter on Tuesday in Calabar, the BoT member representing South-South and sole Interim Authority for Cross River State, Elder Obong Edet Iwang Udo,

He said that the factions led by Mr. Godwin Ukwu and Pastor Abraham Osok have been dissolved.

He said the decision was in compliance with a directive from the National BoT Chairman, Mijinyawa Sa’id, contained in a letter dated July 12, 2026, which stated that “all NAPPS activities in Cross River State had been suspended pending outcome of investigations by a special committee to be constituted by the BoT.”

Udo explained that despite the suspension, the BoT granted a special waiver for NAPPS Day to be marked symbolically in the state.

“The BoT has also issued an instruction that NAPPS Day can only hold where they designate anybody to take charge of that celebration as a symbol. I have chosen Ikom local government Chapter to serve as the symbol for NAPPS Day because it is centralized.

I have appointed Mr. Bassey Nsan to serve as coordinator for that celebration,” he said.

He declared that only the Ikom Chapter Chairman is authorized to collect levies for the event.

“The only one authorized to collect levies for NAPPS Day celebration is the chapter chairman of NAPPS Ikom in the Central Senatorial District.

This is because the BoT gave authorization to collect funds for NAPPS Day celebration on behalf of the body,” he stated.

He warned proprietors against dealing with the sacked factions, stressing that “any school proprietor who pays levy to either of the warring chairmen other than paying to Mr. Bassey Nsan does so at his own peril.”

Udo called on school owners across the three senatorial districts to participate fully in the Ikom celebration with impactful programmes “ranging from cultural display, craft and exhibition, quiz competitions,

entertaining and educative programmes that would add value and make the event memorable,” while urging those flouting the BoT order to desist “so as not to face the wrath of the law.”
